We’ve added history to the Fairview Florist saga. And it was a big step.
On October 1, 2006, Tom and Linda Carlson transplanted Fairview Florist to more fertile grounds at 1634 E. Racine St, just one mile from its original location. Fairview is now located right next door to Janesville’s newest funeral home and just two doors away from Janesville’s largest funeral home, Schneider, Apfel, Schneider & Schneider Funeral Directors. In less than 12 months it has proved to be a most successful move.
The Carlson Family has owned Fairview Florist for 80 years and is the 2nd oldest retail family still in business in Janesville. The Rock County Historical Society dates Fairview Greenhouses back to 1890 and Tom Carlson estimates that Fairview has probably been at the same location since 1875 circa.
Anytime a transplanting takes place, some pruning is required and the Carlsons recognize the need for that. The Garden Center will experience the most change as lawn products and garden supply will be discontinued. The spring season will continue to include a wide selection of beautiful Spring Garden Plants to enhance your surroundings.
When the season for Patio Furniture is over, our Christmas shop comes to life filled with a dazzling display of trees, trim and so much more for your holidays. It’s a family tradition with Tom and Linda, whose families includes 5 adult children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Tom made his first retail sale in May of 1939 at the age of 7 and says that Fairview Florist is his passion. He views the new location as another step in the growth of a successful business that continually provides quality, superior service and variety to all customers.
